Sourced from several exceptional sites inCentral Otago, the vineyards are situatedon three terraces, positively influencing the ripening and style. The sandy loam,free draining soils and alluvial gravels are perfect for gentle development of Pinot Noir grapes. Fermented in stainless steel with 25% new French oak, this wine shows the vibrancy expected when the grape variety is paired with ideal growing conditions from a highly acclaimed cool climate wine region.

Winery Tasting Notes

COLOUR Dark ruby with a purple hue. NOSE Fresh dark berry aromas with a light cherry lift. PALATE This Central Otago Pinot Noir is silky smooth on the mid-palate, with a fine and refreshing ripe tannin finish. FOOD MATCH Pinot Noir is easy to please when it comes to pairing with food. It is lightenough for salmon or chicken, but complex enough to complement richer red or game meats.

Winemaker Andrew Hardy

Andrew began with Petaluma in 1982, working and studying his wayup through the ranks as cellar hand, trainee winemaker and finally leadwinemaker. Successfully interweaving practical, ‘in the vineyard’ workwith university studies, Andrew completed his Bachelor of Appl. Sci(Wine Science) at University of Adelaide in 1990. Nominated in August1999 as a finalist in AGT Wine Magazine's Winemaker of the Year award, Andrew is highly respected for his effortless winemaking style,restrained hand in the winery and engaging manner.
