Catena Alta is an assemblage of historic rows within the Catena family Estate vineyards. The blend of these historic rows, like the combination of sounds that create a symphony, give us highly aromatic and elegant wine that speaks for the terroir and the vines that have been tended by the four generations of the Catena Family. "Alta" means high in Spanish. This makes reference to the high-altitude vineyards from where the grapes are sourced, and to the high-end wines that are produced with these special grapes.

Fresh blue fruit with dried herbs, ripe stems and white pepper. Very juicy, fresh and fine-grained on the palate with a medium body and a crunchy, fluid finish. Quite long. Drink or hold.

Winery Profile

Nicola Cantena planted his first Malbec vineyard in Mendoza in 1902 and today the estate is run by Nicholas Catena and his daughter Laura. Malbec continues to be the estates focus and the wineries pristine vineyards lie at the base of the Andes on soils of sand, lime and stone at altitudes between 920 and 1120 metres above sea level. Over the last 20 years, the fastidous vineyard work of Nicholas and Laura has paid dividends and Catena Zapata is now one of Argentina's most famous estates. Lush, beautifully created wines are what you can expect from Catena Zapata.
