So now we are taking a little trip to the South of France and you can taste the sunny climate in wines such as this Les Dauphins Cotes du Rhone. It is a mix of Grenache and Shiraz, or Syrah as the French like to call it, and is bursting with juicy red fruits. Layers of pure cherry and cranberry fruit are matched with all the smells of vineyards found around the Mediterranean with a mix of spice, meat and dried herbs. Its supple and made for early drinking, especially around a BBQ or to wash down some takeaway pizza.

Winery Tasting Notes

A decidedly southern style of wine with a bright garnet hue, a reflection of the sun-drenched terroirs from which it hails. It boasts a seductively smooth structure and notes of ripe, jammy fruit. The palate is silky smooth with notes of liquorice and vanilla.

Three thousand grape growers come together to produce the Cellier des Dauphins wines. The key to this one is its high proportion of grenache, and it bursts with the sweet juicy red cherry and cranberry found in this variety. Syrah adds some spicy, dried herb and even meaty complexity. It’s not a serious Côtes du Rhône, but is high in sheer drinkability. Supple tannins are well matched to the fruit to provide an elegant, balanced and silky finish. AH
