There's a sturdiness to this wine. It tastes of blackcurrant and boysenberry with drifts of fragrant herbs – it feels pure and largely unadorned, in a positive way – but the sturdiness of its structure gives it that extra something. It has substance. 2025 Halliday Wine Companion

Winery Tasting Notes

Dark purple and velvet but bright. Pretty aromatics of violets and blackberry, cassis and licorice. There is a concentration and density here. Geranium, tobacco, green bean, tomato foliage at summer’s end. Then comes as if a secondary bouquet of pastrami and cinnamon and oak spice and smoke. Cabernet as it should smell. Here we find a savoury and taut palate. That deep and concentrated and dense quality observed on the nose now translates into texture and mouth-weight. Ripe cassis and bright black and dark red berry flavours. A subtle yet hiding-in-plain-sight acidity. Tannins that are miniature yet everywhere and very much in their youth, waiting to enter stage left in a handful of years to further dry out and add texture to the very correct cabernet.
