Purple-black in colour, at night, lit by moonlight. Plums and prunes and spice - a warm and welcoming exotica. Hints of harder herbs and laurel. But that is the thing: all the aromatics are always hinting, they are in certain ways muted; they don’t shout and scream, but they are there. There is a flowing and almost creamy texture to this red wine’s taste and texture. The tannins are very low-fi, but building and consistent; they are everywhere, but quietly so. The dark and black berry fruit flavours are melded and mellowing - all plum fresh and plum dried and then mulberry juice on stained hands. The acid backbone keeps the wine piquant and smart, and keeps the dark berry fruit flavours coiled and trigger-ready. Pepper and spice creep in. A grown-up red wine for wine drinkers of all ages. Whatever the occasion, serve the wine at cellar temperature, however, as this will help highlight the darker and blacker berry fruit flavours and acidity.
