Everybody loves Pinot Noir these days and that’s for a good reason. It easily expresses a sense of place, style and character. The hard thing, though, is to find Pinot Noir that, at the very least, tastes like the grape at a price point that won’t break the bank.

This wine hits the mark, without a doubt and at $9.99 a bottle represents great value. This is a very soft Pinot Noir and for the price bracket it is good buying especially considering that it is a New Zealand Pinot Noir and most of the wines in this range sell for over $30.

Located in the Heart of the Ohiti Valley, Hawkes Bay, the Gunn Estate Vineyards border the banks of the Ngaruroro River. The low yielding, stony river gravel vineyards produce wines with great character and varietal intensity. Sweet ripe strawberry with hints of smoky complexity.

Pinot Noir is best served with veal, duck or roast chicken. An excellent alternative to fuller-bodied reds in winter or over lunch.
