Winery Tasting Notes

Appearance: Deep, brooding dark red core with subtle youthful ruby and garnet hues.

Aroma: Intensely aromatic, complex, and savoury. Layers of tobacco leaf, wet leather, and black cherry sit over ripe dark plums. Hints of dried sage, oregano, cocoa, and a distinctive coconutty, vanilla-oak char add depth.

Palate: Full-bodied, concentrated, and plush. It opens with a burst of vibrant red fruits and dark chocolate before expanding into savoury spice, liquorice, and smoked-meaty charcuterie complexity.

Structure: Tight, linear, and remarkably well-balanced. It features a prominent spine of bright natural acidity paired with liberal, firm, and ultra-fine tannins.

Geoff Merrill's wines have been successful at Australian and International wine shows, including the coveted Jimmy Watson Trophy at the 2005 Melbourne wine show. Since 1980 Geoff Merrill Wines have won 29 Trophies, 143 Gold , 373 Silver and 1181 Bronze medals.
