Wine Summary Image

A polished, generously flavoured Chardonnay that balances richness with freshness. If you like oak influence, stone-fruit weight and a fuller mouthfeel, this is very appealing. More old-school Australian Chardonnay in style, but cleaner and more refined than the heavy buttery examples of the past. Best with roast chicken, pork, creamy seafood dishes or lobster.

Winery Tasting Notes

Appearance

Bright lemon-gold with youthful shine and medium intensity.

Nose

Peach, nectarine and apricot skin layered with roasted cashew, vanilla spice, citrus and subtle creamy oak. There are hints of cinnamon and toasted nuts adding complexity.

Palate

Ripe stone fruit and citrus dominate initially, followed by creamy oak, brioche and nutty barrel-ferment characters. The fruit profile leans generous and rounded rather than lean or mineral-driven.

Texture & Structure

Medium to full-bodied with a smooth, sleek texture and well-integrated acidity. Matured in new French oak for around nine months after barrel selection. It sits closer to the classic fuller Australian Chardonnay style than the tight modern reductive style.

Finish

Persistent and creamy with lingering peach, citrus zest and gentle oak spice.

Geoff Merrill's wines have been successful at Australian and International wine shows, including the coveted Jimmy Watson Trophy at the 2005 Melbourne wine show. Since 1980 Geoff Merrill Wines have won 29 Trophies, 143 Gold , 373 Silver and 1181 Bronze medals.
