Winery Tasting Notes

Appearance

Deep inky purple with a dense core and slow-moving legs, showing concentration and ripeness.

Nose

Dark blackberry, plum and mulberry upfront with layers of black pepper, cocoa, vanilla oak and subtle licorice. Slight savoury edge underneath typical of McLaren Vale fruit.

Palate

Full-bodied and plush with rich dark berry fruit dominating the entry. Mid-palate shows spice, chocolate and vanillin oak. There’s a balance of generosity and structure, with a slightly firmer tannin line than entry Shiraz in the range.

Texture & Structure

Silky but weighty texture. Fine tannins provide grip without harshness. Oak influence is present but integrated.

Finish

Long, warming finish with dark fruit, spice and gentle oak fading slowly.

Kangarilla Road winery is a partnership between Kevin and Helen O’Brien. While the wines show the generosity of the McLaren Vale region, they also have a unique Kangarilla Road style, the white wines fragrant and aromatic and the reds an elegant expression of their variety. The Kangarilla Road philosophy remains unchanged: “To produce wines that we enjoy drinking – wines that can be enjoyed with or without food and especially with friends.”
