A blend of vineyards across the lower Hunter. Fermented in open-top vats, with a maceration of a mere 10 days. Matured briefly in French oak. A light ruby. Almost too easy to drink, particularly with a slight chill. Marked by real sleight of hand. A deft touch. Sweet red earth, polished leather, anise and a flood of red-berry scents pouring across a mid-weighted palate. The tannins are pliant and tactile enough to keep it all on the savoury straight and narrow. Inimitably Hunter. A delicious estate wine equipped for a long lunch. Ned Goodwin MW

Winery Tasting Notes

A traditional medium bodied Hunter Valley Shiraz. Aromas of cherries and mulberries are layered over delicate notes of dried spice and toasty oak. An intense and fruit driven palate is long and persistent with beautifully balanced velvety tannins giving the wine great mouth feel and drinkability.

For nearly a decade, Shaun and Liz have been producing award winning wines for a number of the Hunter Valley’s most successful brands.

2013 marked the first vintage of Silkman Wines, since then they have received numerous awards, most notably in the 2016 James Halliday Wine Companion where they were awarded 5 Stars as well as being named among the 10 Best New Wineries in Australia.
