Fruit from 34-year-old vines. Fermented in foudre and matured in French barrels (10% new). A bright, medium crimson red. One of my favourite wines in the TarraWarra portfolio, this is every bit as good, if not better, than last year’s iteration. You’ll find an attractive amalgam of dark cherries, plum, violets and mountain herbs on the nose, while the palate is ripe, plush and well balanced by the wines grippy, perfectly judged tannins. I’d be drinking this at around 16°C.

Winery Tasting Notes

This wine shows subtle aromatics of raspberry and blue fruits, backed by some subtle licorice, dried herb & savoury notes. Dark undertones give intrigue and personality. There is lovely density and volume which is balanced by refreshing acidity, true to the variety. The supple tannin structure gives length through the palate.
