Winery Tasting Notes

The 2021 Pikes The Dogwalk Cabernets is a brilliant medium to deep red. Perfumed violets, crushed florals, red currants and cassis. Hints of the tell-tale cabernet leafiness play with subtle clove and spice. This wine is medium to full bodied, bright red and blue fruits, slinky and supple in structure. Subtle use of French oak compliment the bright fruits. A balanced finish of lush red fruits wrapped in subtle elegant tannins.

Winery Profile

Pikes Vintners is an iconic family owned and operated winery set amongst the hills and valleys of South Australia's beautiful Clare Valley.

Established in 1984 the winery and vineyards are situated in the historic and picturesque Polish Hill River sub region on the eastern side of the Clare Valley. The climate in this area is cooler and the soils are quite different compared to the rest of the region, imparting distinctive flavours and aromas to the wines.

Pikes is best known for its world class Riesling, but is becoming increasingly recognized for high quality, elegant red wines and their ever popular Sauvignon Blanc Semillon blend. Pikes have also been a leader in planting new and alternative varieties to the district including Sangiovese, Pinot Grigio and Viognier. Pikes also produces Pikes Oakbank- a sparkling Pilsener style beer.

The distinctive English Pike fish appears on all Pikes products.
