The Miles Family Established Irvine Wines in the 1980’s with the goal of putting South Australian Fruit on the forefront on the wine world. And 40 years later they have cemented themselves as not only growers but prized winemakers of Barossa and Eden Valleys. The Fruit for the ‘Estate’ Shiraz comes from their aptly named Estate Vineyard in the Eden Valley and is a fantastic example of a cooler climate Shiraz. Fruits of the Forest on display with this wine, sweet and sour cherries, and a more elegant tannin and acid structure than typical of the region. A wine able to be enjoyed on its own or pair with some cured meat and cheese.

Winery Tasting Notes

Colour:

Deep red with a purple hue

Nose:

An initial spicy burst of cinnamon, cloves and cardamon that gradually gives way to boysenberry and cranberry fruitiness.

Palate:

Fruits of the forest, a little bit of spice and sour cherries all work within a complex and delicate tannin structure. Juicy acidity further lifts the palate, giving the wine balance and length. The finish is elegant and savory, indictive of its cool climate origins.

Maturation:

14 months in 20% new French oak with the balance in two and three year old French oak

Style:

Single vineyard, (French) oak matured, cool climate Eden Valley Shiraz.
