Riesling is a white wine varietal that can span a broad range of styles and can be enjoyed both young or aged. Australian Riesling is well known throughout the world for being crisp and perfectly balanced with a great depth of flavour. Excellent examples of Australian Riesling can be found in most wine growing regions across the country including the Clare Valley, Eden Valley and the Barossa Valley.
Riesling wines are generally highly aromatic with fruity overtones of apple, peach, pear or tropical fruits and undertones of honey and spice. Rieslings can also display 'minerality' where hints of limestone or slate from their native soils are expressed. Riesling is extremely versatile in regards to the types of food it can be paired with because of its balance of sugar and acidity. It handles strong flavours and spice very well and accommodates a wide variety of cuisines. Riesling matches extremely well with poultry, shellfish, white fish, pork and sausages as well as a range of appetizers and desserts.
