The 2021 Pinot Gris is the result of a great vintage. Classic high country, cool climate racy acidity with crunchy pears and apples. Complex nuances of oak and ginger, hints of stone fruits and lemon and lime herald slurpable, full flavoured Pinot Gris.

Pale colour. Lifted pear-skin, gooseberry, tonic water aromas. Fresh and slippery wine with ripe pear, apple, gooseberry fruits, attractive mid-palate viscosity and long juicy acidity. Finishes chalky and crisp. Very good fruit definition and mineral length. Drink now – soon 13.0 % alc

Winery Tasting Notes

Colour

Brilliant very pale straw colour with a watery hue.

Aroma

Lifted ripe pear aromas dominate the nose with notes of Jonathan apple, honeysuckle, faint musk and spice also present.

Palate

The palate has a youthful freshness with flavours of ripe pears, apples, hints of honeysuckle and spicy citrus. Clean dry finish with lively acidity. Aftertaste of ripe pears, Jonathan apples, some honeysuckle, subtle musk infusions and citrus. Drink over the next 2-3 years.

Winemaker Andrew Hardy

Andrew began with Petaluma in 1982, working and studying his wayup through the ranks as cellar hand, trainee winemaker and finally leadwinemaker. Successfully interweaving practical, ‘in the vineyard’ workwith university studies, Andrew completed his Bachelor of Appl. Sci(Wine Science) at University of Adelaide in 1990. Nominated in August1999 as a finalist in AGT Wine Magazine's Winemaker of the Year award, Andrew is highly respected for his effortless winemaking style,restrained hand in the winery and engaging manner.
