Winery Tasting Notes

The colour is a dark brick red with blood red hues and good depth. The aroma shows an initial burst of McLaren Vale dark chocolate followed up with dark plum, wild ber-ries and herbaceous tobacco leaf. With time in the glass, savoury meats and earthy notes increase, adding to its growing complexity. The palate is full of ripe red berry fruits, herbs and spices and dark roasted coffee flavours. Fine tannins and a solid line of acidity provides ample support for a long future. Drink now, or keep for three to five years and be rewarded.

FOOD PAIRING

Enjoy with slow cooked lamb shanks, medium rare eye fillet, a thick Angus beef burger, BBQed Swiss brown mushroom and finish with some hard cheeses.

Geoff Merrill's wines have been successful at Australian and International wine shows, including the coveted Jimmy Watson Trophy at the 2005 Melbourne wine show. Since 1980 Geoff Merrill Wines have won 29 Trophies, 143 Gold , 373 Silver and 1181 Bronze medals.
