We have been incredibly lucky with Rieslings from Eden Valley over the last 4 vintages. The weather has been mild and the lack of any severe heat events helped with retention of acidity and long, slow ripening for complexity. 2024 was the third of three ‘La Nina’ years in a row for Australia.

Winery Tasting Notes

The wine shows powerful fruit and texture with citrus, lemon and grapefruit together with a textural, minerally and dry finish. Drink with roast chicken or fish

Winery Profile

Very much a rising star, Alex Head has taken the long path to wine-making, starting with a degree in Biochemistry at Sydney University, then stints in fine wine retail, wholesale importers and auction houses. He followed this with vintage at a handful of superb Australian wineries including Torbreck and Tyrrells, before heading out on his own, with his first releases in 2008.

Already rated a 5-star producer by James Halliday and named one of his Top Ten Best New Wineries for 2011, Alex's wines are inspired by the wines of France's Cote Rotie, in particular, and are produced in quantities of at most one or two barrels.
