Wine Summary Image

All St Hallett wines are made from 100% Barossa fruit. Shiraz is king in the region, but our winemakers are always on the hunt for good quality Barossa Cabernet that can flourish in certain areas. During the ripening period, our winemakers and viticulturalist have constantly monitored both the sugar/acid ripeness and flavour development, co-ordinating the harvest when all parcels are at their optimum.

All vineyards are crushed and fermented separately. The Cabernet vineyards destined for this wine were fermented between 6 and 8 days at 22 to 24 degrees. Post fermentation the wine was partially matured in French and American Oak before being blended and bottled.

Winery Tasting Notes

The Gamekeeper’s Cabernet showcases blackcurrant and blackberry Cabernet Sauvignon notes. Cabernet provides a firm structure and the classic minty characteristics which the variety is renowned for.

Pure Cabernet aromas with elements of violet and blackcurrant. The palate is fresh and vibrant with blueberry, a touch of herbs and approachable tannins.

A lovely wine for simple and delicious dishes such as grilled chorizo and haloumi cheese as well as old favourites like steak and guiness pie or a juicy gourmet hamburger.

We recommend enjoying this wine while young fresh and vibrant – whatever the occasion, we're sure you'll enjoy this Barossa Cabernet nearly as much as we do making it !

In the heart of the Barossa Valley, Australia’s best known wine region, lies St Hallett, one of the country’s premier wine producers. Established by the Lindner Family in 1944, for many years St Hallett’s winemaking focus was, like many local wineries, on producing fortified wines. However during the seventies and eighties St Hallett turned to explore the true potential of the Barossa through premium table wines. This has resulted in St Hallett’s elevation as one of Australia’s best producers.

St Hallett is renowned for crafting full-flavored, textured wines entirely from Barossa Valley fruit and is credited with producing benchmark wines of the region such as the iconic St Hallett Old Block Shiraz, made from vines aged up to 100 years old.
